1. When can I register?

• Clayton Residents may register for Camp on Monday, April 12, 2021 at 8 am.
• Non-Residents may register for Camp on Monday, April 26, 2021 at 8 am.

2. How can I register?

You can register online via our RecDesk website or in-person at the Clayton Community Center Front Desk, 715 Amelia Church Road. Please note that over the phone registrations will not be accepted.

3. What is the registration deadline?

The 2021 deadline to register for Camp Clayton is Friday, May 21, 2021.

4. What are the Camp Clayton dates and times this year?

Camp Clayton 2021 will run Monday to Friday from 7:30 am to 6 pm for 8 weeks. The first day of camp is Monday, June 7 and the last day is Friday, August 6.

5. How much does Camp Clayton cost?

For Clayton Residents, the weekly cost to attend Camp Clayton is $120 per camper. For Non-Residents, the weekly cost is $180 per camper. There will be no deposit or registration fee collected in 2021.

6. What is the payment schedule?

Payment is due in full at the time of registration.

7. What is Camp Clayton doing to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus?

• All Town of Clayton Parks and Recreation programs and camps are following the most current and up-to-date North Carolina Department of Health and Human Service COVID-19 requirements, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations and Town of Clayton safety procedures.
• Camp Clayton has adopted updated cleaning, social distancing, symptom monitoring, contact tracing, and sanitizing procedures.
• Participants will be placed in groups of 20 campers or less. Per safety guidelines, groups will not mix during camp day.
• Facial mask policies will follow the latest safety recommendations. Currently, masks are mandatory and must be worn by all Camp staff, campers, and anyone utilizing the camp facilities.

8. What happens if my camper, another camper, or staff member contracts COVID-19?

Camp Clayton will follow the most current and up-to-date guidance released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS). With the dynamic nature of this pandemic and virus, this information is subject to change and will be updated as soon as possible. Please be patient with us as we updates at the same time you do!

In the event that a current Camp Clayton camper or staff has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, camp will close for 24 hours and all areas of the facility will be sanitized. The Town of Clayton Human Resource Department and the Johnston County Public Health Department will also be notified. Contact tracing will be led by the Town's Safety Office.

Exposed participants will quarantine for at least 14 consecutive days and will not be admitted back to Camp Clayton until they have received handwritten notice from the pediatrician.

9. What’s new with Camp Clayton this summer?

• Smaller overall camp size and the use of a new facility to promote group social distancing
• New Game Room at the Clayton Community Center with pool, air hockey, foosball, and carpetball
• Giant outdoor fans to beat the summer heat and make outdoor playtime more comfortable
• Disc golf baskets in the back field for those wanting to try a new sport
• Brand new weekly themes and assemblies
• Easier registration, payment, and document submission through RecDesk registration software; please be sure to set up your account on our RecDesk website or contact the Clayton Community Center Front Desk to reset your account password

10. Are there any half-day camp alternatives to Camp Clayton?

Yes! The Clayton Parks and Recreation Department is planning several fun, special interest camp programs this summer. Most are half-day camps that will focus on programs such as:

• Tennis
• Nature
• Art
• Pottery
• Theater
• Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM)

11. What is the refund policy for Camp Clayton?

• 100% refunds will be granted if requested prior to the deadline of Friday, May 28, 2021
• All refund requests must be submitted to Stephanie Woods via email
• Refunds will not be given for missed days, vacations, sickness, or any other unplanned emergencies
• In the event that there is a COVID-19 outbreak through Camp Clayton in which the facility needs to be temporarily closed, prorated refunds will be given

12. What is the Town of Clayton's Tax Identification (ID) Number for Camp Clayton?

The Camp Clayton Tax ID is 56-6001203.

13. What does my camper need to bring to camp every day?

Campers must bring:

• Multiple face masks
• A backpack
• A lunch
• 2 snacks
• A refillable water bottle
• Wear comfortable clothing and shoes for indoor and outdoor play
• A towel and swimsuit will be needed on Water Day
• Sunscreen may be packed and used but campers must be able to put it on themselves
• An extra set of clothing for accidents, spills, and messes

Additional considerations include:

• Please make sure all belongings are clearly marked and labeled
• Campers will not have access to a refrigerator or microwave. Do not bring money (cash, coin) for vending machines.
• This is a device free camp; please leave toys, electronics, and technology at home
• The Town of Clayton is not responsible for lost or damaged items/money/electronics/etc.

14. Are there discounts available to families?

At this time, we do not offer discounts. Registration is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

15. Will the campers be divided into groups by age?

Yes! Campers will be placed into groups by age. This allows for all campers to participate in appropriately paced activities with similarly aged peers. Additionally, Camp Clayton will utilize both the Clayton Community Center and the Clayton Middle School to house the groups.

16. Where do the campers get dropped off and picked up each day?

• At the Clayton Community Center, drop off and pick up will be directly in front of the building. Look for the A-frame, check-in table and Camp staff.
• Please have your laminated Drop Off/Pick Up Number clearly visible in the windshield to limit contact and touchpoints.
• A staff member will be overseeing drop off from 7:30 to 9 am. If you arrive after this time, you will need to park and walk your child inside and check in with the Camp Director.
• A staff member will be overseeing pick up from 4:30 to 6 pm. Late fees will apply if your camper(s) is not picked up by 6 pm.
• Only those indicated as an Authorized Pick-Up Person on camp FlexForms will be allowed to sign-out the camper(s). Bring a photo ID for pick up and drop off.

17. What are the qualifications and trainings for the summer camp staff?

• We follow the standards set by the American Camp Association for Camp staff screening and training
• Camp staff are at least 16 years of age
• All camp staff are CPR, First Aid, and AED certified
• All camp staff are thoroughly background checked and drug screened
• All camp staff attend 20 hours of mandatory training on various topics including:
  • Camp policies
  • Safety training
  • Facilitating games
  • Behavior management
  • Learning how to successfully work with children of varying ages and abilities

18. What can I do if Camp Clayton fills up?

Here are your options:

• You may put your child(ren) on the Camp Clayton waitlist. While there is no guarantee that a spot will become available, it doesn't hurt to place your camper on the waitlist as some participants drop out of camp prior to the Monday, May 17, 2021 deadline. If your child is selected off the waitlist, you will be contacted via email and phone by the Recreation Program Coordinator. You will have 24 hours following notification to complete the registration process and make payment in full before the next participant on the waitlist is contacted.
• You may enroll your camper into a half-day Specialty Camp with the Clayton Parks and Recreation Department. Registration for Residents begins on Monday, April 12 at 8 am. Registration for Non-Residents begins on Monday, April 26 at 8 am
• You may seek an alternative camp experience with another local resource.
